| Question | 2006/10/10 - 18:01:17 |
| Why is a bedroom away from all the rest in a house called a 'mother in law's quarters? Sure, for one spouse the mom is the in law, but for the other its just their mom. It could just as easily be called the 'mothers quarters' dont ya think? Did someone flip a coin and in law won? |

| If I like you come camping on Friday night. If I don't, come anyways and fight an armadillo. |
| McD's | 2006/09/26 - 10:33:57 |
Woody sent me a link yesterday that talks about how McDonald's is going to change their operating system soon to facilitate a breakfast all day menu. THERE IS NOTHING BETTER IN THIS WORLD THAN MCDONALDS BREAKFAST!! I can not wait for this, yet at the same time it can not be good for my arteries, but I can worry about that later. Sonic, I'm breaking up with you, your breakfast burrito for dinner is a winner, but can in no way compete with a couple bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits at 7 in the pm.
Life is good,

I was just talking to my buddy Josh and he told me about what he experienced on the highway today. He was cruising on the BA today and got passed by a guy and his passenger on a Harley. No big deal right? Except, his passeneger was a chocolate labrador just chilling in the passenger seat behind the rider as they are cruising at 60 mph.
This makes me think, how did the dog learn to hang on? There had to be some early mishaps early on don't you think before he learned to balance? This could be deemed similar to those stunt motorcycle rider who pull off those crazy tricks like multiple flips and jumps, etc... How many times do you think those guys messed up before they got it right? I bet there were plenty of broken bones in training.
I hope no broken dog bones occured in the training of the canine cycle rider... |

| Dave | 2006/08/24 - 10:46:16 |
Wow...
So yesterday I call Dave to see if he wants to hang out Friday night. Initially, I was expecting his normal, "Can't, I have a remote," or "Sarah and I already have plans." To my amazement though, he gave me a strong "I have practice but we can hang afterwards if you go where I am going already (it was nicer than that though)." This is a big step in our friendship b/c the smoke and mirrors are going away finally after all this time. Maybe when I start planning my 2009 campout soon I can give him enough advance notice to make it (as long as Sarah lets him).

| Oregon | 2006/08/21 - 09:53:19 |
My vacation was simply awesome. 65* w/ no wind, humidity, or rain makes for my type of weather. I even played golf, which is normally against my religion. While I was there though, I attended a wedding that was being performed in a very scenic, 'touristy' part of Oregon. The couple did not have a permit to have the ceremony overlooking the gorge area, so it was not reserved, but was expecting no problems on kinks during the rehersal. At the end of the rehersal, I said to myself, "It would be pretty funny if a Chinese tourist bus showed up right before the wedding and delayed the whole thing, but I don't want to say it out loud and jinx the ceremony.
Well, the next morning......
A bus of about 75 Chinese tourists showed up to take pictures as we were getting ready to start the wedding. I could not help laughing, and then went on to tell my buddy Kyle how I had imagined the whole thing the day before. Of course, since I did not say anything then, no one really believed me, but I know you guys do now right?
Anyways, the fact of the matter is that now I am not going to hold in golden thoughts like that b/c I want the damn credit 100%! (The wedding ended up very nice by the way.....) |
| Camp Out | 2006/07/31 - 10:46:03 |
Inventory of the weekend:
-60 hamburgers eaten
-30 hot dogs
-Who knows how much liquid refreshment
-Taylor survived her 1st country trip and riding on my atv
-Woody survived in general (barely)
-I got 2 stone bruised feet from the river
-I got one bruised rib cage
-I'm angry Dave didn't show
-I'm happy Chris didn't want to come
-It would have been no place for Mickey's family
-We are going to do it all again in September..plenty of time for Dave to make arrangements to show...

There will be no 'sheep-shagging' this weekend, only the occcasional cow-tipping moment I would have to assume. If I like you, come out and hang with us. If you are anything like Promo Dave, wait for me to ask you to come, say you are coming, and then at the last minute come up with an excuse and hurt my feelings.............................................................................................................................................

| Weekend | 2006/07/24 - 10:17:36 |
Good: Playing to 3 great and fun crowds over the weekend. Thanks to everyone that came out!
Bad: Having a 10:00 Friday morning staff meeting and falling back asleep by mistake til 12:00 while my dogs wrecked my room.
Overall though, the good outweighed the bad and made for a great weekend. Hopefully I'll see everyone friday night at the Red Room before I/we go cowtipping :) |
| Why am I Suprised? | 2006/07/18 - 11:21:27 |
So last Saturday at 12:00 am was Taylor's birthday and she came to Elephant Run. Not only was she there, but her parents also showed up after they had gone out to dinner. Chris and Dave decide to dedicate a song to her which I thought was sweet, but which song did they decide to dedicate you ask? None other than our new crowd favorite, "Crazy Bitch." I question how well that went over due to the graphic lyrical content of the tune with the parents present. Never the less, I, and I would like to think Mickey (since he is a man of good conduct, morale, and tact) were quite embarrased, but I did what any good person would do after the incident, drank way too much and did my best to forget about it. Thanks guys for all you do....

| 'nother question | 2006/07/12 - 13:26:26 |
I understand when a male fugitive gets lose or authorities are looking for a man its called a 'man hunt.' That makes perfect sense. What about if a female fugitive gets loose or the authorities are looking for a woman, is it still a 'man hunt' or is it a 'woman hunt?' 'Woman hunt' just does not have the same ring to it eh?
My hand hurts.

| Salad | 2006/07/03 - 10:36:52 |

So no sleep and one loss of voice later, I am back at work. Every week I say "This week I'm going to take it easy and get lots of rest and stay in on the weekend," yet I never do. One of these days I need to change my habits b/c when you are 75 years old, people look at you funny when you are still at the bars all the time hanging out. When I'm 75, I want to be the crabby old bastard sitting on my front porch yelling at my 25 year old neighbors for all the cars and loud music going on all the time (just like in my neighbor)...
Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend,
Rob |

I'm gonna go pro in this..
The rules of chessboxing are such:
Two competitors face each other in 11 alternating rounds, six of chess, five of boxing. A bout begins with chess, which is played on a board placed directly in the middle of the ring. Each round of chess lasts four minutes. After each chess round, the bell sounds, and workmen remove the chessboard for a two-minute round of boxing, the gloves go back on, the punching recommences. Participants win by way of knockout, checkmate, referee's decision, or if his opponent exceeds the allotted total of 12 minutes for an entire match on the chessboard. Those are the basics, but they do little to answer the overriding question: Why?

"I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me
What hurts the most
Was being so close

| Thursday Nights | 2006/06/21 - 16:23:44 |
I'm often complaining about my friends on this blog, and today is no different...
I'm tired of people saying "Oh man, I can't wait to go out with you on such and such night, we'll have so much fun!" Yet they never show up. I've decided flakiness must be a prerequisite to be my friend. If you are a flaky person, please be my friend so I can keep up this trend. I tell you what though, my friends in Band Camp aren't flaky. Not once has Chris, Mickey, or Dave said "I'll see you at the show this weekend," and not shown. That is true friendship in my mind. Thanks guys, I don't know where I would be w/o you all. Once this is all over, I think we should all get an apartment together.
Come out Saturday!!!

| Hospital | 2006/06/12 - 16:17:33 |
| Remind me not to play tennis tournaments anymore! Spending 3 hours in the hospital this morning getting an IV for rehydration really doesn't make for a fun day. |
| Hurting | 2006/06/10 - 10:18:00 |
| The most tennis I've played in the last two years is maybe one match in a day. Yesterday I played four! By the end of the day my whole body was one big cramp. We went to dinner and I tried to eat a fry and my finger cramped in position and I looked like the Shining kid that said 'Redrum.' I have to play again at 11 today, and then drive to KC directly afterwards so its a damn good thing we are not playing this weekend. Everyone enjoy the rest of your weekend... |

So I'm at the office right now checking my cell phone messages on my office speaker phone. I get one from my friend Kendra saying that she is at FishBonz and I was the topic of Chris's onstage dialog. Next thing I hear is Chris yelling "Robby's a f$@#*t!" from stage. Right then I got the warm fuzzies, especially when my co workers look in the door to my office wondering what the hell was going on. So I learned a lesson, don't listen to your personal messages on speaker phone, you never know what might be said. I also figure for every reference Chris makes about me, I'm going to go buy him another pillow and hide it somewhere in his house.
Have a good day,
Rob |
| A Rat | 2006/05/31 - 10:56:15 |
| We have an unexpected pet at our house right now. My arch enemy in life is an eight inch rat that resides in my garage, yet I can never see him. Other have seen him, and every morning we see his work. So far he has fully eaten through a hard plastic trash can in which I keep my dog's food. He has also destroyed every bit of trash and almost all the plastic we have out there too. This rat must die, and die soon. I put out traps last night and he beat them all. I did catch a mouse though with one, yet that is no consolation for the mouse meant me no harm. It's sad really, the mouse didn't have to go out that way... |

| Weddings Coming Up | 2006/05/17 - 10:51:33 |
Alright,
What do I do?
Me plus a guest were invited to a few weddings coming up. I replied that I would be bringing a guest. Since then, I've managed to mess up being with that 'guest.' Do I still bring someone since they have acounted for it, or do I fly solo, and feel bad that a I potentially wasted a meal, table spot, etc.? This is why I will never get married, I do not understand any of this etiquette stuff and don't see that chaning anytime soon...

| Guest List | 2006/05/10 - 16:14:19 |
For the last few years my friends have known I play around in bands, and when 8 or 9 pm on a Saturday night would roll around and they were broke, I could always count on a few calls from them wanting to be on the guest list. I have no problems doing it for them, it's just the way they try to mask their real intentions for calling. A normal call would be "Hey Rob, what ya doing tonight? Oh ya? I had no idea you were playing, could you throw me on the list then?" My personal favorite so far though is "Hey what kind of dog food do you feed your dogs? OK I'll get that kind for my dog too. By the way, could you put me on the list at Fishbonz tonight?"
Also, I live with 3 guys who like to go out. Since I live with them does that automatically grant them guest list status? If I only had one roommate, I would say yes for sure but where do I draw the line?
I guess at the end of the day though I should feel fortunate that I get to play music and that most people pay to hear/see it. For those at don't pay, at least their dogs are getting healthy dog food with whatever money they do have. |
| I Love My Friends | 2006/05/03 - 12:22:55 |
I want to start out this blog by saying I have great friends. Two of my best ones in fact decided to come over Monday night and hang out. Here's the story....
The time is 2:11 am early Tuesday morning. I awake to a 'rustling' of sounds outside my bedroom window. My roomate (we'll call him roommate #1 for this story) across the hall's light comes on as he too is startled by the sounds outside. Next, I hear Jack (my dog) growling and barking from our rec room and then that room's door opens (it was locked and someone had just broken in) and he barks more. At this point, roommate #2 wakes up from his adjaent room and hears someone is inside. He hears quiet voices coming from the rec room too. At this point what would you do if you were us at 2 AM on a Monday night with people in your house. We all are inside our rooms still, and searching for whatever weapons we might have in our rooms if they came any closer.
Next thing I hear is "Hey Robby, want to have a drink with us?"
So as it turned two of my friends went to the trouble to break into my house to either take my alcohol or hang out with me. Weird? Yes. Scary? Yes. Relieving to hear they were familiar voices? Yes. Regardless I was pissed and kicked them out but there is a touch of comic value to the situation now after the fact.
I'm just glad we didn't have to shoot them or knife them or something, I woulda missed those guys.... |
| Weird Week | 2006/04/27 - 10:31:07 |
| I'm a perfectionist by nature, so when things aren't exactly how I have them planned in my head, I get disgruntled. This week has been one of those weeks on many fronts it seems. To top it off, Derek Lee is on the DL for weeks and I already see the Cubbies slacking. If we could get our damn pitchers healthy it might be a different story but they aren't and we don't have 5 Greg Maddux's. I was talking to someone the other day who is an avid baseball fan and I asked them their favorite team. W/o fail it was the Yankees! What the hell is any Oklahoma native doing loving the Yankees? I would have rather heard them say the Cardinals b/c at least they are only 6 hours away. Alright, I'm done ranting for now. Come out to the shows this weekend to make the world a better place... |
| For Sale: Bass Gear | 2006/04/17 - 10:53:15 |
| I'm short on booze and crack money this week so I need to move some bass guitar gear that is loitering around in my garage. I have a real nice bass and amp setup that goes to the first cash buyer. Any amount buys this stuff people...everything must go!! |

| FBonz | 2006/04/03 - 15:30:20 |
FBonz was a ton of fun. I learned a few things too...
..I shouldn't try to catch ice in my mouth from friends when I'm playing, I WILL mess up.
..Don't try to chase after your buddies car in the parking lot, it's too easy to get them in trouble with Johnny Law.
..If I don't remember to clamp my pedal to my kick drum it will fall off in the middle of Battle Flag.
..Big Booty Tanya's booty is indeed big.
Enjoy the weather,

I'm only 25 but I guess I'm getting old....
Instead of having a crazy weekend partying and being an idiot, I rested up pretty well to airrate my yard, paint my bathroom, refinish my cabinets, repaint my porch, and walk my dogs. If someone has a cure for what I got so that I regain my irresponsibility, please give it to me! Hopefully that cure will come to me Friday night in the way of Fishbonz refreshments....

P.S. Mickey's dog is still on cocaine as of last Wednesday. It's sad to see a nice healthy dog lose his way to drugs... |
| Blog # 2 | 2006/03/09 - 13:57:57 |
My thoughts so far:
-Mickie's Boston Terrier snorts cocaine when no one is looking.
-Dave deserves someone to give him a hell of a deal on a new Charger. It has plenty of trunk space for him to bring us beverages for practice.
-Chris might be the most laid back lead singer in the world...which is nice.
We'll see what magic happens manana at the wonderful world of the Grey snail......

It's Friday and way too nice out to be inside my office, so I don't see myself staying much longer. I just wanted to say I'm looking forward to playing with the guys and hanging out with everybody. I'll do my best to not screw everything up too bad!!
